grad night @ut austin / or in general what it feels like

Enjoy it as much as possible. Its a very bitter sweet night.
Basically there will be two graduations - one for your school (major specific) and another commencement with everyone graduating (all majors).
Major Specific:
Each student gets 10 tickets.
For McCombs its @the Moody Center @8 am Friday. You seat with students who majored in same business field as you during graduation (mis, finance, supply chain, marketing, etc). This graduation is alright (kinda boring) because its like high school where they call everyones name to shake the deans hand.
Commencement:
No tickets, anyone can come - go early parking is hard to find (for family).
Its @DKR @5-6 pm Sat Night.
You are supposed to sit with your school (like major specific) but it doesn't really matter. Last night where everyone/all the amazing people you met in your 4 years are all in one place. Each school's dean (shout out Lillian Mills for McCombs) gives a short speech then everyone from that school/major screams and shouts. People hugging/taking shots. Then toward the end - fireworks/light show and they play Sweet Caroline (never sang so loud). This was an absolute blast (my family enjoyed commencement much more also).
Take photos with your family - then run to get changed and then go to 6th. Uber can get costly (book a bit early on this night). Get there before 10:45/11 pm, the line to get into the clubs get massive on this night (some of our friends got in with less than 30 mins left). Closes at 2, then everyone walks to UT fountain and jumps in (myth where if you jump in before graduation, you wont graduate - so grad night everyone jumps in). The water becomes different shades of gray (disgusting) but everyone still jumps in. People start crying/hugging etc. its such a moment. Everyone leaves around 4 - 5 am. Then next day - everyone starts packing up and leaving. So sad.
